more news from the blog

  1. Looks like you had better weather in Iceland than I did two weeks ago! These presets look even cheesier than Nik software's color effex pro (though I do use silver effex often and love it). I'll just stick with Nik and Lightroom. No hating though…thanks for sharing.

  2. Guys, this is version 1. Try it and send them feedback.
Luminar is not a DAM. If you need one your choices are limited. Lightroom is the standard. Capture One is a great app. Aperture if you're an impoverished masochist on OS X Leopard.
ON1 is set to release a new app called Photo Raw this month. This is what I am most excited about.

  3. Now to wait until they make a version that runs on computers 😉

Anyway, my main issue with "Lightroom alternatives" so far has been that they tend to skimp on the library management aspect; tagging, general metadata management, library filtering, etc. are IMAO a really important part of a workflow solution. The best editor won't help much if you can't find the shot you want to edit.

  4. Looks interesting with all the presets and filters. However I see the navigation is not as friendly as Lightroom. Too bad it's for Mac only. I would love to try it.

  5. So this is a RAW processor. There doesn't seem to be much that can't already be done with existing software, but it will be interesting to see it after a few iterations. It's certainly cheap.

  6. Not even close to "awesome". Luminar has a long way to go before becoming anything close to awesome. Lightroom is more powerful. How much they paying you to push this? Since you said it was awesome but it hasnt even been out a month yet to even give it a decent review. Id take you more seriously if you made this review after 6 months to a year of use. After watching your videos ovet the past 6 months and seeing these types of reviews, I cant find you credible. Seems like you just putting reviews of a product that just came out just to be one of the first to have reviewed it to get more likes and subscribers.

  7. I like to look at a wide variety of sources for my information, from beginner tutorials to pro "behind the scenes" shoots. One of the other people I enjoy following is Frank Doorhof, and some time ago, his work led me to the Macphun "Creative Kit Extreme" bundle, which was a great value for me. Being on their mailing list, I've been receiving notices regarding "Luminar", so it's nice to see you demo some of the features. Thanks, Matt.

  8. this looks interesting.
I think this solves the big problem I have with lightroom and it's getting that overall result you want.

I find it's good but if you don't know what result you want or how to get a certain result then lightroom is as useful as burnt milk.

I've been telling someone else about lightroom and they have simpler software than lightroom or this software.

and I will pass on this video to them to check out, as they will get an perfect idea of what this software can do.

  9. As usual, the angriest are the loudest. Majority likes – most comments not. A lot of click throughs and people grabbing it, and a lot staying here to leave angry comments.

It won't suit everyone, that is fine. But all the negativity isn't warranted. I have never put my name to something I didn't think was a good product.I have used it, I have shared loads of images I edited with it (with overwhelming positive feedback), and now I have shared the launch with you all.

  10. I like the easy and clean interface 🙂 Judging by the name of their site I suppose there is no Windows version though, right…?
Edit: Exclusively on May. What a shame, this looks really nice :c

  11. Design looks great! I'm gonna try it out 🙂 … definitelly gonna stick with Lightroom mainly, since i organise all my photos there. But for some quick edits, this software looks to be great! I especially love the design!

  12. Sorry, Matt you should have seen this coming. I have must respect for your channel but this is the biggest sellout you've done. @6:10 "you say if you want to dig in a lot deeper you can and really know what you're doing and explore it and those features are there as well." YOU should be showcasing these features because you're selling it to us, as your title says an Awesome" editor. If you're going to do something like this make a review, use it for a year, and tell us how awesome it is. Quick video for a quick buck. As a follower of your channel. I personally don't see you using this as your current workflow. Video is half assed and showcases nothing special. So why should we take your advice on this new program?
